*Please note that every song cover art of course, belongs to each amazing artist mentioned. We’re just collaging hehe <3

One of my favourite things about our collective and the New Age Noise classes is that we are always sharing music with each other. I love that I am always either discovering new sounds, more artists to admire or bonding over the same music taste.

With that in mind, we have decided to start posting our monthly music favourites on our website because we love sharing! They do say, sharing is caring after all, right?

We hope that you have find a new amazing artist to add to your playlists or even resonate with our little song stories. Here is what some of the collective have been enjoying this August:

  1. Can’t Help Myself by Now, Now

I listen to this song almost every day. There are so many diverse layers to the track, and I love how the band combine traditional ‘rock band’ instruments with electronic layers. The Audiotree live session of this track (also on Spotify, and yes, I listen to the studio AND live version every single day), is simply mesmerising. It’s one of those tracks that is so easy to get lost in. I love it.

2. Warm Glow by Hippo Campus

Get ready to get lost in this six minute, soft guitar soundscape. Perfect for a late night drive or a long train ride (which is where I heard this song for the first time).

3. The 2nd Most Beautiful Girl in the World by Snail Mail

If you know me, you know that I’m a sucker for some angsty guitar music. It’s what I was raised on, and no matter what genre I’m loving at the moment, it’s the type of music I will always go back to. This track is originally by Courtney Love (not the actual Courtney Love – the band called Courtney Love, who released music from 1989-1991). Snail Mail cover the track so well that I didn’t even realise it wasn’t theirs. It fits Lindsey Jordan’s style so well and I continually have the song on repeat.

  1. Anungan by Grace Nono

2. Dancing Girls (Suite 304 Demo) by Farah

3. Indians Never Die by Black Belt Eagle Scout

  1. READY by Montaigne

If you haven’t heard this song, prepare yourself- it WILL make you want to throw powerful punches. Whenever I listen to READY, I can’t help but sway in its calmer moments, but it’s not long before it stops you in your tracks and forces you to dance with triumph and/or fervour. I also found that reading all the articles about READY made me love this song a thousand times more, and the music video, a million times on top. Need a song that’ll power you through a tough task or time? This is it.

2. Montage by Bares

I was on the bus heading towards the city when I listened to Montage for the first time. I felt swells of nostalgia, and the only answer I had (and still have) to how or why I was feeling feels was because of this song. The lyrics are just incredibly sculpted, detailing the ups and downs of a relationship in such a distinctive way. I confess, I have fallen completely in love with this song not just because of how amazing the arrangement and mix is, but because of the lyrics. Oh, and have I told you? Lead singer and songwriter of Bares, Ella Sterland, went through New Age Noise program’s predecessor, All Girl Electronic!

3. Heavy Hearted by The Jungle Giants

Oh boy, do I remember when The Jungle Giants started off as a pure and wholesome indie rock band. If you’ve listened to some of the music they’ve released in the past (which I encourage you to do), this song shows how far they’ve come with their development and incorporation of electronic music. And this track is still a strong bop! As The Jungle Giants have expressed before, you’ve Got Nothing To Lose with this song.

Stay tuned for the rest of our August music faves next Friday. Big love 💖💖💖
